Holla holla!! I started DailyPearls and intended it to run for the month of June alone because I was on break and had time to do other things aside academics. I’m going back to school soon and i miss it already… I see this series as sort of a crash course and so I put every other blog activity on hold for it. Seven more days to go on DailyPearls and so far it’s been an amazing journey. Thanks to everyone who read, liked, shared and commented on my posts; it’s been really encouraging and I sincerely love you all.
Today we are going to be starting a series which would be like a recap or round up on most of the things we’ve been talking about. I don’t know how many installments this would have yet but I believe it would be an interesting journey. We’re not talking about things that are alien to us, just refreshing our memory as we’ve touched bits of it here and there in our previous posts. So the series is going to be on SALVATION.
Today’s installment would be titled SALVATION: LIFE IN EDEN. Ever wondered how life was in the beginning? How was Adam like? How was he able to fellowship with God?
The Garden of Eden is also called the garden of God. We have to understand that the garden was more of a spiritual place than earthly. Look at it, in that garden there was the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. These are not ‘earthly trees’ of course. If they were, they would’ve been destroyed in the flood. Remember the great flood in the days of Noah? But we were made to understand that the tree of life still exists (which is the person of Jesus actually) in scriptures. Also God came to fellowship with man in that garden; God is Spirit, and those who worship must worship in spirit and in truth. The only time God ever took another form asides from being spirit was through Jesus on earth when He came as man. So the fellowship with God was and would always be a spiritual one. Also, after the fall, God put Cherubims to guard the way to the tree of life. Cherubs don’t function on earth. There’s no way the Garden of Eden could’ve been earthly. So basically we know that the tree of life is situated in Eden and so far there hasn’t been any geographical change in its position. Ever wondered why archeologists and scientists haven’t been able to figure its exact location out?
Let’s look at scriptures a bit. I’d just pick a scripture from Genesis and another from Revelations.
9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. KJV
22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.KJV
Notice any similarity between the two scriptures? At least now we know the source of the river that flowed out of Eden. Good. Now, where am I driving at?
In the beginning, in the Garden of Eden; man was earthly but was functioning from a spiritual dimension. I mean he was placed in the presence of God, was fellowshipping with, and learning of God. That is God’s initial plan for man. From the place where man was functioning, he could exercise his dominion over earth as instructed by God because he wasn’t bound by earth. You can only have dominion over what you are higher than. He was to earth, the way God is to the world. He was above the created elements of earth. Think about it, how could he have named all the animals? Or even speak with them? How do you eat from the tree of life? Or of knowledge of good and evil? It’s not like it’s an apple tree or something.
He acted as God on earth. He had a beautiful relationship with God, uninterrupted by sin or evil. He was in spiritual and physical bliss. He had access to eat from all the trees in God’s presence, including the tree of life except that of the knowledge of good and evil. He wasn’t even bound by time; notice we don’t know how old Adam was before the fall? He was just pure and innocent, learning of God, and exercising it on earth. Remember our post on this? About teaching the soul from the spirit and acting it out in the body on earth? You can read up on it here if you haven’t already. And here’s where we stop today!!!!
Father, we pray that the eyes of our understanding is flooded with light that we might come to the complete knowledge of you. Amen
