DailyPearls 21/6/17: RECEIVING: FAITH ALONE.

Good evening peeps!!!! How is our day going? Yesterday we started a two part series talking about receiving. Yesterday we talked about RECEIVING: GRACEFULLY BLESSED BEYOND CURSES and today we are going to be talking about RECEIVING: FAITH ALONE. I’m super excited!!!!!! Yesterday, we were able to establish that we have been lavishly blessed by God in Christ and our blessings are not based on what we do or what we do not do. We cannot influence God to bless or not bless us because he does everything after the counsel of HIS will. You can read the previous post if you haven’t already.

So straight to today’s topic, receiving by faith. Now we have to understand that we can’t receive what has not been given or offered, so when the word received is used, it means the other party must have given something. In the context we are talking in, God is the other party and we are the receivers. Remember we said that God has freely given us everything in Christ? So the blessings are there already but it’s on our part to receive. How do we receive? By Faith.

Let’s define faith quickly

Heb 11:1

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.KJV

Heb 11:1

11 Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. NCV

Let’s take a quick example to explain faith here in the concept of receiving. Let’s assume a new restaurant opened in your neighborhood and the owner decided to run a promo to give free food for everyone who comes for a period of one week and he then shares free meal tickets to everyone present on the opening ceremony of the restaurant; giving them the chance to come redeem their free food whenever they are ready. For the next one week, anyone who goes to the restaurant and shows his or her meal ticket is treated to free food. Anyone who doesn’t have the meal ticket isn’t getting free food.

The food is free for that week which is totally from the kindness of the owner’s heart- Grace.

The meal ticket isn’t the food but anybody who has it is assured of a free meal at the restaurant. It is the evidence of the free food they are entitled to – Faith

That was a not-so accurate description but I believe we get the gist.

Bringing the faith to practical terms; it’s simply believing in the finished works of Christ and the benefits we have received in him. God has gracefully blessed us with all things in Christ, we receive them by believing and accepting them, in Christ.

Having Christ and believing in what we have in Him is that meal ticket. We may not have seen the manifestation of what we have received, but we are sure we have them in Christ.

Look at the greatest gift ever given; gift of salvation, given freely by God to all. How do you receive it? by faith.

Eph 2:8

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:KJV

Rom 10:9-10

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.KJV

You confess the Lord Jesus only after you have believed in Him – Faith.

So basically, when it comes to receiving, it is totally by faith. From start to finish. If you need something and you ask from God, you have to believe that you have received it already in Christ, then you see the manifestation of it. You want healing? Believe that you were already healed because of Jesus’ sacrifice, not doubting, and you see the manifestation. Remember when Jesus talked about this?

Mark 11:24-25

24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. NIV

Notice Jesus didn’t say “believe you would receive it” he said “believe you have received it already” it’s yours. On what basis? You have the faith, you have Jesus and you are in Him.

Therefore as believers, when it comes to God’s blessings and receiving them, when we request for things from God; we first believe that we have received them in Christ, and then we wait for the physical manifestation.

This is the summary of faith in general. Trust me faith is a topic that can’t be exhausted but I managed to keep this short even though it’s still kinda long. I apologise!!

Father, help us to continue to live in the consciousness of the fact that you have blessed us abundantly in Christ and help us to remember this whenever we request for things from you. Amen.
