Good day!!!!!!! *screams in a not-sonorous voice.. How was our night? How is our day going? Today, we start another two part series and today, we are going to be talking about the first part, something beautiful briefly; RECEIVING: GRACEFULLY BLESSED BEYOND CURSES.

As believers, when we study scriptures we realize that most times when we read about God’s blessings in the new creation, it’s usually in Christ. As new creation believers, we are blessed because we are in Christ. Let’s look at some scriptures.

John 1:16-17

16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.NIV

Here, John was witnessing to Jesus being full of grace from which we have received blessings. Notice the tense used ‘we have’ not ‘we will’. We have received these blessings. Another scripture

Eph 1:3

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. NIV

Notice the tense used here too, ‘He has’, not ‘He will’. In Christ, He has blessed us with all spiritual blessings. If we continue in that chapter of Ephesians, we see the spiritual blessings we have received

Eph 1:4

4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. NIV

Eph 1:4-7

In love 5 he c predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. NIV

Eph 1:7-8

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.NIV

Eph 1:8-10

9 And he d made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, NIV

Eph 1:11

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: KJV

This also,

Rom 5:1

5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:KJV

These blessings and so much more are what we have received from God through Jesus. The beautiful thing about these blessings is, God gave them to us freely in Christ. We didn’t have to lobby or work for them. Take a look at this;

Eph 1:11

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: KJV

He works all things after the counsel of HIS will. He’s God and God alone, no other person involved. It wasn’t because man was wicked or man was righteous that he decided to bless us in Christ. In fact, the bible says he chose and predestined us BEFORE the creation of the world to be in HIM, to partake of these blessings in HIM. So he had this all planned even before the first man was created. Everything is to His pleasure.

As new creation beings, it wouldn’t make much sense to try to ‘bribe’ God into blessing us. For one, we have been richly blessed already in Christ. Two, you CAN’T influence God’s decision; I mean He’s God. What makes you think that you can change and manipulate His decision to bless you? The bible says He does ALL THINGS after the counsel of His own will. He does it if He wants to, when He wants to. He’s not man that can be guilt tripped or manipulated into doing something.

Let’s take a practical example of God’s blessings not being as a result of works from scriptures. If you read through Philippians 4:10-20, Paul talks about how the Philippian Church gave to the propagating of the gospel by ministering to His needs and all. He appreciated them and encouraged them. But when he was going to pray for them, he didn’t say “God will provide your needs because you have given to the Gospel by ministering to my needs” that would just make God conditional. Instead he said;

Phil 4:19

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.KJV

God would supply because He’s rich in Glory in Christ because even provision for needs is one of the blessings in Christ Jesus!!! They have that blessing already.

So let’s live understanding that we are richly blessed in Christ already irrespective of what we do or do not do.

Father, help us to come to the understanding that we are richly blessed in You, and as a result, live in that reality. Amen.

So tomorrow, we are going to talk on the second part: RECEIVING 2. Have a lovely day ahead and remember that it’s all about God. Don’t forget to follow via mail, like, share, and write your thoughts in the comment boxes below. Have a lovely day ahead, I love you.
