Good evening family!!!!!! How was church today? I was immensely blessed and I believe we were too. I didn’t post the dailyPearl for yesterday because I had a VERY busy day coupled with the fact that I was not feeling too fine. I apologize. I got a lot of questions from peeps this morning concerning dailypearl for yesterday and it made me feel good, knowing that quite a number of people are following this. I say a big THANK YOU!!!! You made my day.
This evening, we are going to be talking about “WORD-DOING, WORTH-DOING” *winks. I think I was a bit creative with the title, it sounds cute. Soooo what exactly are we talking about? We are simply talking about receiving the word, and acting on it.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.KJV
I’m sure you learned some things in church today. But what next? Do you just keep them somewhere in your head till further notice? Or till the following week when someone asks about what you learned the previous week? You might as well just stay at home and not bother going to church at all. What about the teachings you listen to on a daily, weekly basis? Do you just listen to them so that you can tell others “oh! I know that minister, I listen to him weekly”? What about the scriptures you read so dutifully? Do you read and memorize just so when someone quotes a scripture, you can recite along with the person and people cheer and respect the bible scholar you are? That’s just plain deceit, sadly to yourself.
As believers or people generally, we are meant to act on what we hear, on what we learn. It’s not enough to just listen to a teaching or reading the bible every day. The true measure of knowledge is when we are able to put what we’ve learned into our daily practices. The true measure of growth is in the amount of the word we have received been expressed in our daily activities. It’s through this that our souls are being renewed, that is, saved.
Let’s say for example, you read about walking in love in the bible or you were thought about it during church meetings but in your school or workplace, you discriminate, keep malice or you’re just being wicked to people; this is as good as you never reading or learning about love in the first place. What’s the use of learning about something you can’t put to good use?
The bible contains the word of God which reveals the person of Jesus which indirectly reveals who we are and how we are meant to behave. So when we hear or read the word of God, our eyes are opened to see who we are in Christ and how our conduct should be. When we don’t act on that, it’s like knowing who we are, and choosing to forget it and act in a manner that isn’t worthy of who we are.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.KJV
But if after receiving the word, we are not forgetful and act on it, our lifestyle would naturally align to what God planned for us initially and we are blessed in things we do.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.KJV
Father, thank you for your word that you have given us, help us to be doers of the word even as we receive them. Amen.
So let’s start this week living as not just hearers but also doers of the word, expecting beautiful results on the long run… Have a lovely week ahead. I love you.
