DailyPearls 9/6/17: RENEWING OF YOUR MIND 2

Good morning peeps.. I believe we had beautiful nights. Yesterday we started a two part series titled”Renewing of our minds”  and we discussed on The triune nature of man. You can quickly read it as a foundation if you haven’t already. Today’s pearl would be a continuation titled “RENEWING OUR MINDS”.

*[[Rom 12:2]] KJV* And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Yesterday we established that man is triune and the soul as a component of man is the seat of consciousness, faculty of knowledge, feelings and desires. The mind is the element

of the soul that deals with reason and thought. It’s the intellect.

You see, at salvation, it was your spirit that was saved i.e that was renewed, that was sealed with the Holy Spirit that was promised. You are now one spirit with God. And so technically, your spirit is perfect. But your soul wasn’t saved at that point. Remember the soul is the link between the spirit and body and it is the component of man that learns and knows. Because of this unique feature the soul has, before we got saved, it had learned a whole lot of stuff. A lot of stuff that weren’t of God. Things of the world and of the devil. The soul can also learn from and by the spirit and the reaction is carried out in the body. The initial plan of creation before the fall was for man to learn solely from the spirit and act on it in the body. To come to a point where the soul had learned so much of the spirit such that man’s every action on earth would be as God would’ve done it. Remember God talking about making man like him on earth? But after the fall, the soul began to learn evil and death also and so couldn’t be like God on earth.

Now, as believers with a new spirit within us different from the Spirit that was corrupted at the fall, we can now go back to the initial plan of creation when we learn from and by the Spirit of God within us and carry out the actions in the body physically. We need to unlearn some things our mind has accepted and gotten used to and how do we do this? We learn more from the Spirit who is the real deal anyway. This is called ‘renewing of the mind’. We are making new and teaching new things to the mind that had learnt a lot of corruption, unlike the renewing of our spirit that was done once by God, the renewing of the mind is a continuous process done by us through the help of the Holy Ghost. What’s the reason for the renewal or salvation of our soul?

*[[Rom 12:2]] KJV* And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

It’s so that we can test(prove) and know that which is the perfect will of God after which we would be able to do it here on earth. Remember where we started from? About how our actions here on earth would be as God would’ve done it?

How do we renew our mind? Build it up? Learn from the spirit?

We do this by giving expression to the gifts and things of the spirit within us. For example, praying in tongues

   1 Cor 14:4

4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.KJV

1 Cor 14:26

26 How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. NKJV

To edify here means to build up. In the three components of man, we know the spirit is perfect and isn’t being built here, the body is physical and can’t have more muscle mass by praying in tongues and so we are left with the soul which is actually being renewed and built up. It is learning of the Spirit and unlearning the corruption it had.

The more expression is given to the things of the Spirit by a believer, the more is learned by the soul and desires of the flesh are subdued.

Gal 5:16-18

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. NKJV

It is a continual walk and not just done at once. The continual fellowship with the spirit on the inside, brings forth fruit on the outside which everyone sees

Gal 5:22-25

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. NKJV

To what end is the renewal of the mind? Remember our opening text talking about us being transformed. What or who are we being transformed into?

2 Cor 3:18

18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. NKJV

Heb 1:2-3

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;KJV

We are being transformed into Christ here on earth who is the Glory of God, doing the will of God here on earth. Isn’t that amazing news??? *smiles.

Let us continue to live with the consciousness of the Spirit of God within us and give more expression to the things of the Spirit.

Father we pray that we continue to grow in the knowledge of You and of Your will so that we can do it here on earth and all praise be returned back to You. Amen.

Don’t forget to share it with others so they’d get blessed too. Have a lovely day ahead.
