Good morning family.. I believe we slept just fine. Here’s something to think on and act on (that’s if you aren’t already) starting today..
I can guess some people were wondering what debt exactly they had to pay. Knowing that Christ had paid it all. Calm down. Christ had paid it all, leaving us an example to follow in His footsteps and Christ paid this debt in a big way…
1 Peter 2:21
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
So what exactly is the debt we owe?
A quick look at scriptures
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. KJV
We have a debt to pay by loving people.. showing the God kinda love. We can’t do this if we don’t have a good knowledge of who love is. Notice I said “who” not “what”.
1 John 4:8
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. KJV
We have to understand that God is love. He is a love being and you can’t express true love if you don’t know God. True love would stem from the deep seated knowledge of God’s love for you which has now been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. KJV
Since we have the Holy Spirit who is one of the Godheads in trinity in us as believers, we have God in us. We have Love in us. We are also love beings.
Now we have a duty to express the love in us. To express who we really are. It comes naturally to us, what are the characteristics of love?
1 Cor 13:4-7
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. NIV
As believers, we owe the world a debt of love, of expression of the Love inside of us through these characteristics. We are not allowed to be impatient, or wicked, or envious. We are not allowed to boast in ourselves, we are to be polite to others, we are to put the needs of others before ours and not be selfish. When people do annoying things to get at us, we are not allowed to flare up and act irrationally. We owe these to the world as commanded in the scriptures.
I want to conclude by saying, this is a continuous act, it’s our lifestyle. It isn’t meant to be for today alone but for every day of our lives. I love the NIV version of our main text
8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. NIV
It’s a continuing debt we pay for the rest of our lives.
Dear Father, we pray that you help us to come to the full knowledge of you as Love and you give us the grace to express you to the world every day. Amen.
Have a beautiful day ahead.. I love you and there’s nothing you can do about it.
